KAILUA-KONA — No new cases of dengue fever were confirmed on Hawaii Island on Thursday, state health officials report.
The official case count remains at 261 confirmed cases on the island, according to the Department of Health. The most recent case was announced by the state on March 10. However, none of the cases remain potentially infectious to mosquitoes and the last onset of illness was March 4.
Of the confirmed cases, 236 are Hawaii Island residents and 25 are visitors. Forty-six of the cases have been among children.
Officials have excluded 1,491 reported cases based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria since the start of the outbreak in September 2015.
