On Saturday, Lanihau Center will celebrate spring with a free car show in the parking lot nearest Henry Street. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Hawaii Island Humane Society as the featured nonprofit.

Along with enjoying dozens of classic and custom cars, trucks and bikes from all over the Big Island, the public will be able to talk with Humane Society volunteers about its programs and services and also be able to meet and adopt a new family pet.

G. Cruz will be the emcee for the day. Prizes from Lanihau merchants and other businesses will be given out every half-hour. Everyone making a donation to the humane society will receive a drawing ticket.

Tables will also be set up for a Transmission Technology display of metal die-cast cars and all participants and spectators are invited to bring their favorites to show off. Models must be in place by 10 a.m. A $1 entry fee for each car will go to the humane society’s spay and neuter program.
