Theodore “Ted” “Teddy” Guerpo, 85, of Hilo died Feb. 29, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 4, 1930, in Honokaa, he was a retired welder and ironworker.

Mary “Vovo” Patao, 100, of Honomu died March 1, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honomu, she was a homemaker and a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and the Foster Grandparents Program.

Abraham Ahmad, Jr.
Abraham “Puhipau” Ahmad, Jr., 78, Hawaiian Kingdom patriot and documentary filmmaker with Na Maka o ka ‘Aina who dedicated his life to enlightening himself, his people and the world about Hawaiian history, sovereignty, and aloha ‘aina, died Feb. 9, 2016, at home in Na’alehu. Born in Hilo, he was a member of the Kamehameha Schools class of 1955.
Memorial at ‘Iolani Palace will be 10 a.m., March 25.
He is survived by wife and co-producer Joan Lander; sister, Halawe Bohreer; brother Harrub Ahmad Houssein; sons Eleu (Nina) Puhipau, Kaiana (Judi) Ahmad, and Vernon (Pua) Niau Puhipau; former wife Aulani Ahmad; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Phyllis Arthur
Phyllis Arthur, 83, of Volcano died Feb. 20, 2016. Born Dec. 27, 1932, in Honolulu, she retired as a supervisor at LSG Sky Chef, American Airlines.

Burton Ito
Burton Yoshimi Ito, 76, of Kealakekua died Feb. 18, 2016, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 2, 1939, in Kealakekua, he was the owner of Burton Ito ATA Architect, a coffee farmer, member of the Kona Historical Society, Hind Kumiai, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and Fukuoka Kenjin Kai.

He is survived by daughter, Christina Ito of Kealakekua; son, Byron (Jue-Lan Fu) Ito of Captain Cook; brother, Dorsey Ito of Kealakekua; sister, Kay Uejio of Cypress, Calif.; two grandchildren.
