Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union will hold a free seminar titled, “Business Basics: How to Write a Business Plan.” It is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m Saturday in the John Y. Iwane Credit Union Center training room in the Kaloko Industrial Park.

The seminar will be presented by Dennis Boyd, center director-West Hawaii for the Hawaii Small Business Development Center Network. Attendees will learn how to develop a business plan or revise an existing one. The presentation will cover evaluating your business concept, developing a coherent vision and develop a marketing strategy.

Church golf tournament set

St. Michael’s Catholic Church will hold its seventh annual golf tournament at the newly opened Kona Country Club April 2. Tee time is 8 a.m. Sponsorships and teams are still available. Cost is $150 per player and teams will be assigned. Lunch, silent action, goodie bags and prizes are included.

Money raised will help pay for the new church on Alii Drive, which is 1 year old.

Christmas tree project seeks volunteers

Imagine Hawaii having the tradition of getting the family together to visit a Christmas tree farm and selecting their own tree during the holiday season. Interested community members can help make that vision a reality by volunteering for the upcoming Aina Mauna Christmas Tree Demonstration Project Planting Workshop from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 18 on the slopes of Mauna Kea.

The Hawaii Forest Industry Association project involves importing and propagating seed and outplanting Douglas, noble and grand fir trees on Department of Hawaiian Home Lands land.

Nominations sought for Outstanding Older American

May is Older Americans Month. To celebrate, Hawaii County will hold the annual Older Americans Month luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 6 at Hilton Waikoloa Village. Tickets are $25.

Nominations for Outstanding Older American (60 years old or older) are being accepted until March 18.

Bowling tournament supports caregiving event

Hawaii Community Caregiver Network is holding a benefit bowling tournament from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at KBXtreme in Kailua-Kona.

The handicap tournament will consist of five-person teams that must include one female or one youth bowler older than 10 years. The entry fee is $150 per team, which includes a T-shirt and two door prize raffle tickets per bowler.

Bowlers may sign up as individuals on a first-come, first-served basis the day of the event.
