Friends of the Libraries, Kona Book Club meets at 11 a.m. Tuesday on the Kailua-Kona Public Library lanai.

This month’s selection is “Into Africa: The Epic Adventures of Stanley and Livingstone” by Martin Dugard.

In 1866, David Livingstone steered a massive expedition into the heart of Africa to search for the source of the Nile River. In his path lay nearly impenetrable, uncharted terrain, hostile cannibals and deadly predators. Within weeks, the explorer had vanished without a trace. Years passed with no word. Then, to capitalize on the world’s fascination with the missing legend, young journalist Henry Morton Stanley went into Africa to search for Livingstone.

The club will next meet in April to discuss “Everything I Never Told You” by Celeste Ng.
