The 21st annual Kona Brewers Festival, indulging craft beer aficionados with 94 selections of ales and lagers served up with a wide variety of island-style cuisine from 29 Hawaii chefs, is Saturday in Kailua-Kona.
Breweries from Hawaii and the Mainland will each offer two types of craft brews. Top chefs from some of the Big Island’s favorite restaurants will offer their best food pairings, ranging from fresh fish and smoked meats to deep fried avocados and tropical sweets.
A special Kona Brewing Co. collaboration brew with Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Cisco Brewers featuring Original Hawaiian Chocolate and will be unveiled at the festival.
The event also features live music and entertainment, the Trash Fashion Show and HomeBrew Competition. Preceding the main event is the Run for the Hops 5K/10K.
This year, the event will feature two sessions. The first runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the second runs 4 to 7 p.m. As of 1:30 p.m. Thursday, tickets were still available for the first session.
Tickets are $70, which includes an event mug, seven brew tasting coupons, unlimited samplings and entertainment.
