Hawaii’s agricultural industry is one of the most rewarding, yet challenging, sectors in our local economy. Agriculture keepsour lands green and productive; provides jobs for workers at all skill levels; produces delicious foods for our enjoyment aswell as high-value exports to support our island economy.

Hawaii’s agricultural industry is one of the most rewarding, yet challenging, sectors in our local economy. Agriculture keepsour lands green and productive; provides jobs for workers at all skill levels; produces delicious foods for our enjoyment aswell as high-value exports to support our island economy.

Agriculture also faces numerous challenges from poor weather, destructive pests, high costs of land and transportation, waterand labor needs, overseas competition and more.

We applaud our hardworking legislators, many of whom foresee the harmful impacts of ill-conceived legislation. Theselawmakers are prudent and exercise caution, wisdom and balance in their approach to protect Hawaii’s farms.

Proposed legislation regarding buffer zones take ag lands out of active production and creates financial burdens for all farmsand farmers with no public benefit.

The seed crop companies have been members of Hawaii’s larger agricultural family for over 50 years. As part of that family,we will continue to advocate for legislation that support all forms of agriculture and we will continue to strongly support thegrowth of a progressive agricultural industry through the advocacy of rational laws for our agricultural partners.
