A man’s body was found Thursday evening partially submerged in a small stream in Waipio Valley.

A man’s body was found Thursday evening partially submerged in a small stream in Waipio Valley.

The Hawaii Police Department is withholding the identity of the man pending notification of his family.

At 5:56 p.m., police responded to the valley after receiving a report of an unresponsive man in a small stream. Responding officers located the victim, who was partially submerged in the stream.

Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section responded to the area and recovered the body of a Caucasian male. The body was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The case is currently classified as a coroner’s inquest. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday morning to determine the exact cause of death.
