Preparations are underway for the annual King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade slated June 11 in Kailua-Kona.
Registration is open to groups and individuals who want to be in the parade, including marching bands, floats, vehicles, hula halau and equestrian units. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are also being sought.
For entry guidelines or to download a registration application, visit www.konaparade.org. All entries are subject to approval of the parade committee, and must not be political or blatantly advertorial. Equestrian participants must have basic horsemanship skills.
The year’s King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade begins at 9 a.m. at Walua Road and Alii Drive and travels through Kailua Village via Alii Drive to Palani Road, past the pier. A hoolaulea music and art festival will follow the parade at Hulihee Palace.
