Carmen Martin
Carmen Buis Martin, 88, of Keauhou died Feb. 23, 2016, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Dec. 13, 1927, in Illocos Sur, Philippines, she was a coffee farmer and member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Friends may call at noon March 3 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona for a 2 p.m. Mass. The family requests casual attire.
She is survived by daughters, Luvimin Minda (Rodrigo) Jalandoni of Kealakekua, Zenaida (Romeo) Regis of California; sons, Liwanag (Remedios) Martin, Liberator (Marissa) Martin, Joseph (Laura) Martin, Jesus (Nenita) Martin, all of Kailua-Kona, Ferdinand Martin of Kealakekua, Rodrigo Martin of Pennsylvania; sisters, Leonida Dela Cruz, Gertrudis (Jimmy) Peralta, all of the Philippines; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Maggie Santiago
Maggie Clarisse Puuwaialoha Nakoa Santiago, 69, of Pahoa died Jan. 20, 2016, at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in South Dakota. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired baker at Hilo Union School and attended the Hawaiian Pentecostal Church in Honolulu.
Friends may call at noon March 4 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo for a service. The family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.
She is survived by daughters, Leimomi (Todd) Russell of South Dakota, Raylyn (Ronald) Quesada, Lelyaundry (Jason) Kipilii, both of Keaau; sons, Kainoa (Lisa) Santiago of Ainaloa; son, David (Brigette) Santiago of Aloha Estates; hanai sons, Michael (Gloria) Santiago of Nanakuli, Oahu, Raymond (Cindy) Santiago III of Nanakuli, Oahu, Henry (Cindy) Santiago of Oahu, Timothy (Dayna) Santiago of Hilo; brothers, Buddy Nakoa, Edgar (Kay) Nakoa, both of Palolo, Oahu; sisters, Ipo Kahiamoe of Maui, Faith (Tony) Distajo of Aiea, Oahu; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mary Baptiste
Mary “Blondie” Kealoha Baptiste, 94, of Mountain View died Feb. 18, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born July 24, 1921, in Mountain View, she was a retired special education teacher’s aide for Hilo Union School and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. March 4 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Visitation will continue from 9 to 10 a.m. March 5 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View with a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire.
She is survived by son, Franklin Baptiste; daughter, Brenda Caravalho; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Julia Robertson, Anita Freitas, Linda Baptiste; numerous nieces and nephews.

Clifford Kong
Clifford Yin Jon Kong, 90, of Hilo died Feb. 26, 2016, at his residence. Born Sept. 25, 1925, in Honolulu, he retired as vice president of Hawaii National Bank, was an Air Force Veteran during World War II, member of the Masonic Fraternity of the Evans Lodge No. 524 in Evanston, Ill. and distinguished member of the Mid-Pacific Country Club in Honolulu.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 4 at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo for a service. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by wife, Sharon Kong of Hilo; sons, Thomas (Michele) Kong of Deltona, Fla., James (Tina) Kong of Torrance, Calif., Charles Kong of Walnut, Cali.; daughters, Deborah (Jonathan) Patterson of Las Vegas, Mary (Jose) Vazquez of Fredericksburg, Va.; stepson, Eugene (Francine) Nunes of Honolulu; stepdaughter, Cynthia (Michael) Nunes Thomas of Hilo; sister, Annette (Gordon) Liu of Honolulu; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Alice Pua “Poochie” Tavares, 60, of Hilo died Feb. 10, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 30, 1955, in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of the New Hope Hilo Church, Kailana Canoe Club and Wednesday Night Mix Bowling Club.

Beverly Ann Carvalho, 64, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 10, 2016, at her residence. Born July 15, 1951, in Kealakekua, she was a community service worker for the Hawaii County Nutrition Program, co-owner of Upcountry Gardens, worked for Emma’s Flower Shop and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Colleen Ford
Colleen Elizabeth Ford, 55, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 17, 2016, at her residence. Born July 4, 1960, in Santa Monica, Calif., she was a merchandising operations manager for Macy’s Makalapua, a community service volunteer for Family Support Services of West Hawaii, Hawaii Island Food Bank and Relay for Life.

She is survived by husband, Ronald Ford of Kailua-Kona; mother, Joanne Spaulding of California; sisters, Karen (Jim) Drohan of New York, Maryjo Spaulding, Nancy Spaulding, both of California; caregiver, Jodi Hing of Kailua-Kona; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Crowley
Mary Henderson Crowley, 83, died Dec. 3, 2015. Born Feb. 22, 1932, in Washington, D.C., she was a missionary to Japan, founded Big Island’s first K-12 Christian school, helped establish Henry Opukahaia school in Washington, D.C., served on the board of Leesburg Christian School and was a charter member of Believers Baptist Church in Leesburg, Va.
She is survived by husband, Dale Patrick Crowley; children, David Crowley, Sharon (Terry Overstreet), Grace Marie (Wayne Lantz), J.D. (Kim), Celeste (Steve Bailey), 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Merchant; brother, James Henderson.
Services were held in Virginia. Memorial gifts may be given to Leesburg Christian School.

Judith Guavis
Judith Julia Guavis, 71, of Pahoa died Feb. 13, 2016. She was born Aug. 20, 1944, in Honolulu.

Elsie Kong
Elsie Hatsuko Thompson Kong, 99, of Hilo died Feb. 20, 2016, in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired clerk for the Hawaii County Department of Public Works.

She is survived by brother, William Thompson; several nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

Mary “Mamalou” Lou Ramsey, 84, of Milolii died Feb. 22, 2016, at her residence. Born June 13, 1931, in Punxsutawney, Penn., she was a homemaker and retired line supervisor for Memcor Corporation in Huntington, Ind.
