Timothy Coyle

Timothy Edward Coyle, 62, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 5, 2016, at Kaiser Hospital on Oahu. He was born Dec. 16, 1953, in Madison, Wis.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Feb. 29 at Old Kona Airport Park for a celebration of life.

He is survived by wife, Kathleen Coyle; daughters, Shannon, Kristy, Kelly and Keri; seven grandchildren; siblings, Mike Coyle, Pat Coyle, Linda Greidanus; numerous nieces and nephews.

Glen Lilly

Glen A. Lilly of Hilo died Feb. 24, 2016, at his residence. Born May 13, 1927, in Tacoma, Wash., he was a retired solar energy entrepreneur.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 29 at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section. Family requests casual attire.

He is survived by sons, Jerry (Loretta) Lilly of Issaquah, Wash., Ted (Jenny) Lilly of Ka’u, Patrick (Patricia) Lilly of Battle Ground, Wash.; daughter, Melissa (Michael) Locke of Custer, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Mark Murray

Mark Alan Murray, 67, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 10, 2016, at his residence. Born Aug. 22, 1948, in Beech Grove, Ind., he co-founded Wong and Murray in the San Francisco Bay Area, was a radio news director and reporter in Honolulu, a radio network sports reporter in San Francisco, a video producer and member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, past director of the Northern California Golf Association and club champion at Diablo Country Club.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. March 6 at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity for a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona.

He is survived by wife, Roberta Wong Murray of Kailua-Kona; son, Marshall (Toni) Murray of Concord, Calif.; daughter, Mei-Ling (Graham Rees) Murray of San Francisco; sister, Susan (Bruce) LaWall of Milton, Fla.; cousins, nieces and nephews.

Thelma Calles

Thelma Lilinoe Yee Sun “Amoe” Calles, 87, of Hilo died Feb. 20, 2016, at her home. Born Aug. 24, 1928, in Hilo, she retired from Hawaiian Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward.

Friends may call for a visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. March 2 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with a 6 to 7 p.m. wake service. Family requests aloha attire. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. March 3 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hilo Stake Center for am 11 a.m. service. Burial at Mauna Kea Memorial Park in Kaieie Homestead Road, Papaikou. Family requests Sunday best attire.

She is survived by husband, Kahoalii-O-Kalani Calles of Hilo; sons, Zachary (Josephine) Calles of Virginia Beach, Va., Elgin (Patricia) Calles of Honolulu, Les (Lisa) Calles of Orem, Utah; daughters, Gwen (Tim) Tirrell and Faith (Peter) Paulo of Keaukaha, Greycelyn Maluo of Hilo, Tweetie (Ngatai) Smith of Auckland, New Zealand; brother, Tom (Kawaihona) Poy of Laupahoehoe; sister, Elsie Brothers of Des Moines, Iowa; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.

Robert Carvalho

Robert Ernest Carvalho, 71, of Manteca, Calif. died Feb. 5, 2016, at the Kaiser Hospital in Modesto, Calif. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired diesel mechanic with Kaiser Sand and Gravel.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. March 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. March 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass, followed by burial at Homelani Memorial Park. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.

He is survived by daughter, Roberta (Scott) Marlow of Riverbank, Calif.; mother, Roseline Victorine of Hilo; sons, Russell Juip, Raymond Juip, both of of Modesto, Calif., Richard Juip of Oakdale, Calif.; brothers, Ernest Carvalho of Las Vegas, Rodney Victorine of California, Clyde Victorine of Mississippi; sisters, Ernestine Vankeuren of California, Elsie (Walter) Yim of Oahu, Delfey Mae Gordon of Mississippi, Laverne (Albert) Manoa of Pahoa; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Miyoko Ichino

Miyoko “Mio” Ichino, 97, of Hilo died Feb. 12, 2016, in Hilo. Born in Redondo Beach, Calif., she was the retired owner of Mio Realty and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. March 4 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

She is survived by daughter, Priscilla (Alan) Garson of Hilo; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bessie Nishida

Bessie Yuen Nishida, 100, of Hilo died Feb. 3, 2016, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Dec. 25, 1915, in Waipahu, Oahu, she was a retired teacher and member of Church of the Holy Cross.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. March 4 at Church of the Holy Cross in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire and no monetary gifts or flowers. Donations may be given to UH Foundation for the Nishida scholarship and mailed to UH-Hilo Development Office, 200 West Kawili St., Hilo, HI, 96720-4091. Checks should include Memo: 205-2790-3. She is survived by daughters, Anne (James) Sadayasu, Jeanne (James) Yagi, both of Hilo, Joan Sakaba of Kailua, Oahu; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Samuel Puailihau

Samuel Pua Puailihau, 73, of Hilo died Oct. 22, 2015, at home. Born June 16, 1942, on Molokai, he retired as a Long Shoreman (a.k.a Stevedore) for I.L.W.U Local 19 in Seattle.

Condolences may be sent to Hospice of Hilo, 1011 Waianuenue Ave. Hilo, HI 96720. Private services were held.

He is survived by son, Gregory Puailihau of Seattle; daughters, Janea Carrell, Laura Newton, both of Seattle; brothers, Nelson (Hannah) Puailihau of Honolulu, Laurence (Nanamae) Puailihau of Hoolehua, Molokai; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
