The Hawaii Wood Guild recently announced award winners from its 30th annual Wood Show held this month.

The Hawaii Wood Guild recently announced award winners from its 30th annual Wood Show held this month.

The show continues today through 5 p.m. at Isaacs Art Center at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more info call 885-5884.

The People’s Choice Award is still to be announced because persons’ visiting the show can vote for their favorite piece through today. At the end of the show, the winner will be announced online at www.hawaiiwoodguild.com.

Best of Show was awarded to Marcus Castaing for his chair “cruisin in style.”

First place for joinery was earned by Matthew D’Avella for his table “Dining with Escher” while honorable mention went to Mats Fogelvik/Henry Pomfret for “Demi Lune Table.”

First place for sculpture awarded to Scott Hare for “Hearts of the Ocean.” Honorable mention for the category was given to Gregory Paul for “Ghost Flow.”

First place in woodturning went to John Mydock for “Shape Shifters.” He also earned honorable mention for his piece, “Lava Lotus.”First Place in the open category was awarded to David Reisland/Cliff Johns/Gary Eoff for “Hawaiian Compass.” Thomas Hohl earned an honorable mention for “Prayer Wheel.”
