One new case of dengue fever was confirmed Wednesday on the Big Island, state health officials report.
Since the start of the outbreak on Sept. 11, 260 cases of the mosquito-borne virus have been confirmed on the Big Island. Of those cases, 235 are island residents and 25 are visitors. Children account for 46 of the cases.
None of the confirmed cases remains potentially infectious to mosquitoes, health officials said. The last onset if illness was Feb. 13.
As of Tuesday afternoon, 1,313 reported potential cases have been excluded based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria.
