David Ruf

David Ruf

David William Ruf, 50, of Kamuela, passed away Jan. 30, 2016, at Kaiser Hospital in Honolulu. He was born Feb. 12, 1965, in Ohio. He lived in Waimea; he worked as a Systems Engineer for Rivertop Solutions and was a Navy veteran.

Celebration of life will be at Kuhio Hale Hall, 64-759 Kahilu Road in Waimea, on Feb. 25. Visitation at 4 p.m. with services at 5:30 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers donations may be sent in memory of Nile Ruf Scholarship Fund at Bank of Hawaii in Kamuela, c/o Patricia Hodson, P.O. Box 126 Kamuela, HI 96743.

He is survived by son, Nile W. Ruf of Kamuela; mother, Suzanne Statton-Crooke of Cleveland; sisters, Marine Ruf, Katie Zarka of Cleveland; step-mother, Jocelyn Ruf of Cleveland; numerous, uncles, aunties and cousins.

Cynthia Pearson

Cynthia “Cyndi” Ann Pearson, 70, of Honokaa, died on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. She was born on Sept. 19, 1945, in Everett, Wash. She was a proprietress for housekeeping services and island resident for 25 years.

A celebration of her life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Waimea Nature Park located behind the Canada France building.

She is survived by, daughters, Lucyn (Peter) Wielgos of Newport Coast, Calif., and Tiara (Evan) Hecht of Ocala, Fla.; granddaughters, Amme Nylander of Los Angeles, and Emma Nylander of Los Angeles; aunt, Erma Speer of Helena, Mont.

Mitsue Kitasato

Mitsue Kitasato, 84, of Pahala died Feb. 18, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honalo, Kona, she was a retired custodian for Bank of Hawaii in Pahala and Kau Mac Nut, a produce vendor and member of the Pahala Hongwanji Mission Fujinkai.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Feb. 22 at the Pahala Hongwanji Mission. Aloha attire.

She is survived by son, Tye (Kelly) Kitasato of Chino, California; daughter-in-law, Jill Kitasato of Monterey Park, California; brother, Hideo Honda of Kona; sister, Florence Kaiki of Kona; sister-in-law, Millicent Honda of Aiea; two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
