Army officials are opening the Keamuku Maneuver Area for bow hunting Saturday and Sunday.
It it will be open from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for pigs and goats. The recent fires have created a safety concern, the Army said, and people are not to enter burned areas. They are also asking that people who see suspicious activity should call investigators at 935-3311.
All hunters must check in and check out at one of the stations at:
The Old Saddle Road Gate, across from the Mauna Kea State Park entrance; mile marker 49.5 gate on Daniel K. Inouye Highway, approximately one and a half miles from Mamalahoa Highway on the left; Gate 10 near mile marker 53 on Old Saddle Road, one mile from Mamalahoa Highway.
Some of the points may not be accessible because of the fires.
Access is by foot only, with hunters directed to park in designated areas.
