Makalapua Stadium Cinemas will present an HD performance by Jonas Kaufmann, sung at Milan’s La Scala, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Kailua-Kona.
Tall, curly-haired, with a vocal instrument of renown range, eloquence, and expression, Kaufmann is now at the height of his vocal powers. The La Scala opera house is as fabled as Kaufmann for the excellence of its acoustics and its elegance as a setting for the greatest operas. And all of the arias will be from Puccini, including the beautiful “Nessun Dorma” from Puccini’s “Turandot,” “Che Gelida Manina “ that can break our hearts with young love from Puccini’s “La Boheme,” and from his “Manon Lescaut,” the aria, “Donna, Non Vidi Mai.”
Admission is $15 and $12.50 for AARP members.
