Hawaii Preparatory Academy’s Ka Makani Players present “Bloody Murder,” a clever mystery/comedy with a literary twist.
The production will run Thursday through Feb. 27 at the Waimea school’s Gates Performing Arts Center. All shows begin at 7 p.m.
Playwright Ed Sala gathers a group of the usual British murder-mystery types for a weekend retreat at a sumptuous country estate, set in the 1930s, and weaves an intricate plot with many surprising and unexpected twists and turns. “Bloody Murder” is an enjoyable evening of murder and mayhem that will have the audience guessing what’s next.
The cast features Curtis McMackin as “The Major;” Sarah Emmons as “Lady Somerset;” Colby Camero as “Charles;” Adam Pigott as “Devon Tremain;” Kate Gargiulo as “Jane;” and Riley McMackin as “Emma.” Thomas Yoo plays three roles as “Chief Inspector Phelps,” “Mr. Woo,” and “The Priest;” and Sophia Markstein triples as “The Countess,” “The Motorist,” and “The Nun.”
HPA theater instructor Marina Tichotsky is the director and costume designer. Jared Terpak is technical director.
Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
