Youth paddling at Keauhou
The 2016 Keauhou Youth Orientation Beach Day will be held at Keauhou Bay on Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event is for all youth paddlers, ages 6-and-up — a day of sun, fun and ocean activities, with water safety and an introduction to outrigger canoe paddling. Lunch will be provided by Keauhou Canoe Club.
A parent or guardian’s signature on a waiver will be required. Participants are asked to bring sunscreen and a towel and be ready to have fun. For more information, call Nathan at 825-9487.
Super Sunday Slam Baseball clinic in Waimea
Waimea Athletics will host a free youth clinic featuring the University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball team on Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Waimea Park.
Players ages 8-14 will participate in advanced hitting, pitching-catching, batting and fielding stations.

Waikoloa Canoe Club looking for ocean lovers
Paddlers are welcome bring their ohana to join the Waikoloa Canoe Club at Anaehoomalu Bay to learn the basic skills of outrigger canoe paddling on Feb. 20 and Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. Paddlers must be ages 10-and-up and able to swim.

Girls basketball clinic and registration in Kohala
There will be girls basketball registration and a clinic for youth ages 9-14 at Hisaoka Gym on Feb. 22 and Feb. 24.
It will run from 4-5 p.m. Practice starts in mid-March, with the season running through the start of April to mid-May.

Honokaa looking for a football coach
Honokaa high school will be accepting applications for varsity head football coaches and assistants. Applications will be available at the main office during schools hours (7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Deadline for applications in Feb. 19. Applications can be turned into the main office or the athletic department, located in the gym.
Girls basketball registration open in Waimea
Waimea Athletics is currently accepting registrations for the upcoming girls basketball season until Feb. 25. Age groups include 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 divisions.

Lavakids Family Fun Runs
On Feb. 20, LavaKids, in partnership with Club Rehab, will host its Family Fun Runs at 7 a.m. on Ane Keohokalole Highway between Palani Road and Kealakehe High School. Look for the Lavaman flags on the mauka side of the road. This is a free event and open to all ages.
The guest speaker this month will be Brooke Myers, local athlete and yoga instructor who will talk about the benefits of breath awareness, a healthy mindset and positive thinking.
Registration will take place at 7 a.m. followed by a keiki dash at 7:45 a.m.. The one-mile and 2-mile run/walk will begin at 7:55 a.m. with the 5k run/walk right after. This event is open to both keiki and adults. Games and supervision will be provided for keiki during the 5k for parents wanting to participate.
