LIHUE (AP) — Rescuers on Kauai were busy over the holiday weekend.

On Sunday, they airlifted a 47-year-old tourist from Houston, Texas out of a valley on Kauai’s rugged Napali Coast.

Kauai County spokeswoman Mary Daubert says someone notified authorities that a woman at Kalalau Beach needed help. When rescuers arrived, they found the woman uninjured. But Daubert says the woman was incapacitated, so they decided to take her out of the valley anyway.

The visitor was flown to Princeville Airport on Kauai’s North Shore and turned her over to medics. She refused treatment and was released.

Earlier that morning, a couple was rescued after they were swept out to sea at Queen’s Bath on Kauai’s North Shore. A crew on a Jet Ski pulled them out of the water and to safety.
