Catherine Phillips
Catherine Priscilla Vicente Phillips, 89, of Hilo died Feb. 8, 2016, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on Aug. 15, 1926, in Papaikou, she was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call on from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Feb. 17 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at Alae Cemetery Sec. I. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.
She is survived by sons, Clyde Phillips, Gary Phillips, both of Hilo; sister, Beatrice Hanrahan of San Francisco; two grandchildren.

Wayne Yoshizumi
Wayne T. Yoshizumi, 70, of Hilo died Jan. 29, 2016, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hakalau, he was a retired service manager with Dollar Rent a Car in Hilo and West Hawaii Motors in Kona.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. Feb. 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. The family requests aloha attire be worn and flowers be omitted.
He is survived by wife, Alysia Yoshizumi of Hilo; sons, Lyle (Caroline Souza) Yoshizumi, Layne (Mia) Yoshizumi, both of Hilo; sisters, Caroline (Richard) Yanagawa of Honolulu, Doreen (Harvey) Chan of Hilo, Mavis Yoshizumi of Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews.
Kay Murashige
Kay Kazuyo Murashige, 86, of Hilo died Jan. 20, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a teller supervisor with International Savings and Loan and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Friends may call at noon Feb. 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 2 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn no flowers.
She is survived by sons, Guy (Si Tien) Murashige of Honolulu, Myles (Diana) Murashige, George (Laura) Murashige, both of Hilo, Dean (Lori) Murashige of Modesto, Calif.; brother, George (Kayleen) Yuda of Hilo; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Damasa Querubin
Damasa “Masing” Tabudlo Querubin, 92, of Pepeekeo died Feb. 7, 2016, at home. Born Dec. 11, 1923, at Sulvec, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a retired jewelry maker for the former Mings Jewelry in Hilo and member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou, Pepeekeo Filipino Community Association and Pepeekeo Senior Citizen.
Friends may call from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn. Burial will be at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section.
She is survived by husband, Marcelino Querubin of Pepeekeo; sons, Edelson (Sharon) Querubin of Pepeekeo, Jose (Florita) Querubin of Kauai; daughter, Estellita (Ed) Fox of Morgan Hill, Calif., brother, Bernardino (Leticia) Tabudlo of Philippines; sisters, Corazon Arquero of Philippines, Manuela Campbell of Canada and Milagros (Yuling) Costudio of Waimea; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Larry Kamaka
Larry “The Maile King” “Dewey” Kamaka, 67, of Kurtistown died Dec. 12, 2015, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was an equipment operator for the County of Hawaii Puna Roads Division.
A celebration of his life will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 20, at the Onekahakaha Beach Park Pavilions 2 and 3. Casual attire.
He is survived by wife, Dee Kamaka of Kurtistown; son, Sonny (Alicia) Kamaka of Hilo; hanai daughters, Megan Walls of Leilani Estates, Jurney Kamaka of Kurtistown; hanai son, Kyle Walls of Alaska; sisters, Shirley Gomes of Kona, Kelly (Masaru) Deguchi of Kona, Carol Kahele Milolii, Vanda Kaholo of Hilo; 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

John Holmes
John Arthur Holmes, 87, of Hilo died Feb. 11, 2016, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Oct. 29, 1928, in Clinton, Iowa, he was a self-employed handyman, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a deacon for the Church of the Holy Apostles in Hilo.

Hiroshi Saito, 82, Hilo and formerly of Pearl City died July 19, 2014, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired administrator for the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Parks and Recreation.

Clifford Yamaguchi
Clifford Hiroto Yamaguchi, 68, of Hilo, formerly of Pahoa, died Jan. 23, 2016, at his residence. Born Oct. 7, 1947, in Olaa, he was retired from Stan A. Kinoshita and Associates as an insurance agent, member of the Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Waiakea Lions Club, lifetime member and Rooster of the Hilo Jaycees, and the Charter President of the former Hui O’ Puna Jaycees.
Friends may call at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 12:45 p.m. Lions Club necrology service and a 1 p.m. memorial service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers or monetary gifts.
He is survived by aunts, Ruth (Frank) Kaneda of Kurtistown, Asako Fukuki of Honolulu; numerous cousins.

Gertrude Sasaki
Gertrude Chieko Sasaki, 95, of Hilo, died Jan. 23, 2016, at home. Born on July 2, 1920, in Kohala, she was a retired assistant cafeteria manager for Stevenson Middle School in Honolulu.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts.
She is survived by sons, Joel (Miriam) Sasaki, Jon (Pearl) Sasaki, both of Hilo, Jerome (Karen) Sasaki of Honomu; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.
