Coconut wireless doesn’t speak well to dengue fight

There are some interesting rumors going around: That there are only six sprayers in our state and all of them are on the Big Island.

That $45,000 was spent of the “Fight the Bite” campaign but no more sprayers are in the supply pipeline. That one person is authorized by training and license to purchase the mosquito pesticide being used. Perhaps we need more than just a removal of the hubcaps of our government vehicle. It appears as though they have forgotten their primary purpose.

Push back against Planned Parenthood

I have received reliable information that there is a push to get Planned Parenthood back on the Big Island of Hawaii. A meeting was held here on Feb. 8 for this very purpose. We all rejoiced when Planned Parenthood was not given a renewal on their lease for their facility in Kona last year, but now there is activity to bring them back.

We already have a facility in Hilo that is performing abortions, the Hilo Surgical Center; they have the services of five doctors. There are people praying at this facility in Hilo; we can pray also in Kona against Planned Parenthood returning to destroy more babies.

Please join with Concerned Women for America of Hawaii, The Pregnancy Center and others by responding with prayer and comments along with your own letter to the editor against this situation. We need to be praying for God to intervene.

Squatting shouldn’t be allowed

Why do people take advantage of others by occupying foreclosed homes illegally? It is very disconcerting to see this sort of thing happening in all our neighborhoods.

Yes, there is no one living there, but it doesn’t mean it’s open season for you and others to come in and rent out rooms illegally and tell the neighbors you’re maintaining the house for the authorities. What authorities? We have been trying for years to resolve the issues with the legal known authorities concerning this property.

Yes, the house has been in foreclosure since the owner died. Yes, the yard is overgrown, but as neighbors we are still trying to maintain the sidewalks etc. Yes, the homeowner association is trying to get the ownership issues resolved. Yes, there is so much red tape with the banks. Yes, there are others who would like to purchase this house. But this doesn’t mean that you and your minions can come into our neighborhood and start removing the vegetation and have the audacity to tell us, the neighbors, that you have authority to come in and maintain this house.

Where do you come from that you can say and do such a thing? Kailua-Kona is in the state of Hawaii and we follow and obey the laws of our country, the United States of America. What these people are doing is illegal. Again, where and what are our legislators, mayor and County Council doing about this sort of foolery! We need your help, this kind of unlawful behavior must be dealt with immediately!
