No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-4.1 earthquake that struck at 9:23 a.m. Friday on the south flank of Kilauea Volcano.
The earthquake was located 3.9 miles west of Kalapana and had a registered depth of 4.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued an information statement just two minutes after the temblor informing the public that based on all available data no local tsunami was triggered.
Within 10 minutes of the earthquake, 17 Big Islanders had reported feeling the temblor.
