Hawaii Performing Arts Festival’s annual scholarship and festival fundraiser will open with a “not-so-silent” auction from 5-6:30 p.m. at Four Seasons Resort, Hualalai.

The not-so-silent auction will be an exciting opening act for Jake’s concert, which starts at 7,

“We want everyone to come early, save their seats in the amphitheatre and then move on to the ballroom for drinks and pupus at the auction,” said Genette Freeman, executive director of HPAF. “It’s a pau hana with sparkle.”

Some of the auction items include Four Seasons Hotel stays at Vail and Denver, Colorado, and Vancouver and Whistler, Canada; an aerial tour of Pearl Harbor in a restored World War II fighter plane; a white Roland FP-50 digital piano; vacation accommodations at a private residence in Telluride, Colorado, and a wine pull.

Although it is a silent auction, professional auctioneer Pat Batchelder will be on hand to liven up the evening.

“That’s where the not-so-silent part comes in,” said Freemen. “We expect a lot of laughter and high spirits to set the tone for the concert to follow.”
