The dates are Feb. 10 and 11 and May 4 and 5 and cover Mauna Kea Forest Reserve, Mauna Kea Ice Age Natural Area Reserve, Palila Mitigation Lands, the Kaohe Game Management Area and the Mauna Kea Hunter Access Road.
Both the Hale Pohaku and Kilohana gated entrances to Unit A and G and the gate behind Mauna Kea State Recreation Area will be locked at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 and reopened at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 and locked at 7 p.m. May 3 and opened 7 p.m. May 5.
The Mauna Kea access road will remain open.
Telephone call-ins to the Fish and Wildlife Kamuela office at 887-6063 for salvage permits will be conducted from 9 a.m. February 3 to 10 a.m. the day before each shoot day. One permit will be issued per call per vehicle for one day only.
A 4-wheel drive vehicle is required to participate in the meat salvage.
