A woman was arrested after allegedly trying to open a loan under another person’s identity.

Mitzi G.P. McArthur, 41, of no permanent address, was arrested Friday on suspicion of second-degree forgery at a bank on the 200 block of Kamehameha Avenue in Hilo. She also allegedly damaged a door to the bank and tried to flee from responding officers.

Detectives charged McArthur with attempted second-degree theft, second-degree forgery and fourth-degree criminal property damage. Her bail was set at $4,250.

Police are still investigating possible charges of second-degree identity theft and unauthorized possession of personal and confidential information. Those cases will be forwarded to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney upon completion.
