The lane closure is required while Hawaii Electric Light Co. crews upgrade transmission lines and equipment to improve system reliability. One lane will be closed to traffic Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. through March.

HELCO advises motorists to expect delays of up to 20 minutes.

Alternating lane closures on Umauma Bridge in the vicinity of Hakalau on Highway 19 remain in effect in both directions over a 24-hour period, seven days a week for bridge rehabilitation. Travel speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 mph, and vehicles that exceed statutory size-weight limits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon application of their respective oversize-overweight vehicle permits. Maximum width for any vehicle with permit passing over the bridge is 12 feet.

Alternating single lane closures are also in effect on Highway 19 in both directions between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway in the vicinity of Kaawalii Gulch Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for roadway improvements.

A 24-hour detour on the Keaau-Pahoa Bypass Road also continues in both directions between Pahoa Market Place and Kahakai Boulevard. The detour will remain in effect until May for the construction of the Pahoa Roundabout. Temporary traffic signals have been installed to direct traffic at the Kahakai Boulevard/Pahoa Village Road intersection. Motorists are advised to drive through the detour with caution.
