Volcano talk is tonight
U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory geologist Frank Trusdell will talk about the current status of Mauna Loa, Hualalai, and Kilauea volcanoes.
This Volcano Awareness Month talk begins at 6:30 p.m. today in the Konawaena High School cafeteria, 81-1043 Konawaena School Road in Kealakekua. It is free and open to the public.

Blue Zones tobacco meeting canceled
The Blue Zones Project Hawaii tobacco policy meeting scheduled for Thursday in Honokaa has been canceled.
Rotary scholarships available
Local high school seniors can now apply for the Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation scholarship grants, available for the 2016-17 college academic year. Three winners will be selected: one student will receive a scholarship for $5,000 with the opportunity to win the Maurice J. Sullivan and Joanna L. Sullivan award of $10,000. Two more winners will walk away with a $1,500 grant. The deadline to apply for the scholarships is Feb. 7 with an interview to follow on Feb. 13 at Kahala Nui on Oahu. The Rotary Club of Kahala will announce winners on March 28.

Grownups invited to color
“Stress-Less Coloring for Adults” will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on the Kailua-Kona Public Library lanai.
Coloring isn’t just for children, it is proven to be beneficial to adults too. Generating wellness and quietness, as well as stimulating the brain areas related to the senses and creativity, adults are again enjoying this simple form of art and evoking happy memories of childhood.
Attendees don’t have to color inside the lines or finish their picture. Patterns will be provided as well as colored pencils. Attendees may bring their own pencils, markers, or craypas.

Worship concert planned at Lanihau
Beyond the 4 Walls, a free praise and worship concert is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Lanihau Shopping Center.
Music will be perfromed by Kona Christian Church, New Hope Legacy, Kona Faith Center, Mokuaikaua Church and Youth with a Mission. Free giveaways will take place throughout the concert.
Attendees may bring their own chairs. Coolers are not allowed.
