Community college plans Express Admissions Day
Hawaii Community College will host Express Admissions Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Manono Campus in Hilo.
Express Admissions Day is the fast and easy way to apply for the Fall 2016 semester. Prospective students can complete an application, receive their student number, learn about financial aid, schedule the next steps in the enrollment process and have their questions answered by school representatives.

How to write a business plan
The Hawaii Small Business Development Center Network will explain how to develop a business plan or revise an existing one with step-by-step instructions prese-ted Nancy Ginter-Miller.
The session will include business plan financials. It is planned from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kuakini Tower, 75-5722 Kuakini Highway, Suite 216 in Kailua-Kona. Cost is $20.

Seniors planning movie outing
The Kailua-Kona Seniors meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Building A for a Movie Day. The title of this month’s movie is “Woman in Gold” starring Helen Mirren.
There is no formal meeting at Hale Halawai this week.

Hilo High Viking Alumni Homecoming Dance
The Hilo High School Alumni Association invites all Viking alumni to an Alumni Homecoming Dance 6:30-10:30 p.m. Friday at Hilo Naniloa Poly Room.
There will be pupu and no-host cocktails. Entertainment by Hilo’s own VIZION 20/20. Tickets are $25 pre-sale and $30 at the door. Credit union accepting scholarship applications
Hawaii State Federal Credit Union has launched its 2016 Lowell Kalapa Scholarship Program, which will award 15 students a $2,000 scholarship. Winning applicants will be chosen based on financial need, academic merit and extracurricular activities.
Following a record 247 applicants in last year’s program, 2016 marks the 21st year Hawaii State FCU will provide scholarship opportunities to its members attending a university, college or trade and vocational school. Since 1996, the Hawaii State FCU Scholarship Program has awarded more than $509,000 to help students pursue higher education.
Applications will be accepted through March 31.
