Alvin Mihara

Alvin Tadashi Mihara, 51, of Mountain View, died Dec. 31, 2015, at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Fairfax, Va., on March 17, 1964, and was employed by Dodo Mortuary in Hilo.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Jan. 23 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. Casual attire is requested.

He is survived by wife, Eleanor Mihara of Mountain View; sons, Walter Mihara of Mountain View and Alvin Mihara, Jr. of Mountain View; daughter, Kawehilani (William) Bowers of Glenwood; sisters, Lucy (Harry Chibana) Nagai of Hilo and Lorna (Roland Gacayan, Jr.) Mihara of Hilo; hanai mother, Eunice Nagel of Kauai; four granddaughters; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Dave Morse

Dave Morse, 62, of Ocean View, died Nov. 7, 2015. Born June 30, 1953, in Des Moines, Wash., he was a senior estimator for Washington Glass and an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 24 next to Huggo’s on the Rocks on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona for a memorial service.

He is survived by son, Terry of Puyallup, Wash.; son, Caleb of Chehalis, Wash.; sisters, Sharon and Pamela; three grandchildren.

Hanako Arai

Hanako Arai, 89, of Hilo, died Jan. 8, 2016, at home. Born in Hakalau, she was a retired school custodian, homemaker, and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin &Fujinkai.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by husband, Toichi Arai of Hilo; son, Reginald (Patricia) Arai of Hilo; daughters, JoAnn (Alan) Koga of Waimea, Shirley Arai and Audrey (Thomas) Tanouye of Hilo, Charlene (Ashley) Oshima of Makakilo, Oahu; brother, Haruo (Joyce) Meguro of Kaneohe, Oahu; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
