The Big Island Opera with 10 players will perform Saturday at Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu.

The show, which features selected opera aries by Handel, Mozart, Puccini and Verdi, plus short stories and dance will be performed at 7 p.m. A silent auction will open at 5 p.m. The event benefits the Big Island Opera as well as Island Swing Orchestra.

Opera members originate from Europe, Hawaii, the mainland and Japan. BIO means “life,” and the group’s motto is “world peace.” The performers for the Jan. 23 concert are Kauilani Trainer, soprano; Lisa Taylor, alto; Marius Stranger, tenor; Ursula Vietze, violin; Yumi Kikuchi, flute; Michael Cripps, cello; Annu Shinoya, piano; Thais Mazur, storyteller; Shizuno Nasu, dance; Michaeloha Elam, conductor and trumpet.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door. Purchase tickets in advance at www.apachawaii.org.
