WAILUKU (AP) — Emergency crews on Maui have recovered the body of a man found inside a vehicle 200 feet below Kahekili Highway.
Firefighters and police responded to the scene Wednesday after a report of a possible accident. Authorities say a helicopter was called in to help locate the vehicle, which was found in a ravine and had apparently gone off the highway and over the side of a cliff.
A firefighter dropped down to the car and removed the man’s body. His identity has not yet been released.
The Maui Police Department says an investigation remains ongoing.
