HONOLULU (AP) — An effort by Honolulu officials to add more bike lanes in the city has some concerned about the effect on parking space for drivers.

Officials are looking to add bike lanes to McCully Street by the end of the year and a protected bike lane on a portion of South Street. The protected bike lane is similar to the one that opened on King Street in December 2014.

The city’s plan includes lining both sides of McCully Street with bike lanes, a move that would likely mean getting rid of parking spots.

Some residents say that would worsen the city’s parking problems along streets that are already too cramped.

KHON-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1lxmdUt) the city is trying to move most of the parking spots on McCully Street to nearby side streets.
