No new cases of dengue fever were confirmed on the Big Island Monday, however, health officials say that as many as three of the 223 confirmed cases remain potentially infectious to mosquitoes.
Of the confirmed cases, 201 are Hawaii Island residents and 22 are visitors. Forty-two of the cases have occurred in children younger than age 18, according to the state Department of Health. The last onset of illness was Jan. 8.
Since the start of the outbreak, 922 reported potential cases have been excluded based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria.
