Olympic Games therapist presents free muscle talk
Geno Ortiz will offer a complimentary talk on muscle health Wednesday in Kailua-Kona.
Ortiz, a licensed therapist in Hawaii for more than 35 years, is a muscular massage therapist for athletes inside the Winter and Summer Olympic Games Villages.
The talk will start at 6 p.m. at the Go-Team Massage Clinic, formerly Geno’s Massage Training Center, located upstairs at the Casa De Emdeko building at 75-6082 Alii Drive.
Ortiz will give demonstrations, answer muscular related questions, and give examples of non-drug therapy and self-care tips to enhance muscle function. Participants are asked to bring a beach chair or pillow for comfort.
“If you suffer from headaches, backaches, or training aches and pains, this information can ease your daily discomfort,” Ortiz said. “If you are starting your new year’s resolution of exercising, or you are currently involved in physical activity at any level, you will enhance your physical potential.”

HAM radio enthusiasts meet
The Kona Amateur Radio Society will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the south end of Wawaloli Beach Park at Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority.
All members, friends and those interested in HAM radio are invited. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share during the Chinese themed potluck.

Business school hosts distance learning meeting in Kona
The University Center at Palamanui and the Shidler College of Business (University of Hawaii at Manoa) will host a community informational meeting for the fall 2016 Neighbor Island cohort program in Kona on Jan. 28.
The 5:30 to 7 p.m. meeting will focus on the Distance Learning Executive MBA and the Masters of Human Resource Management (MHRM) programs offered by Shidler. It will be held at the new Hawaii Community College – Palamanui, University Center campus, 73-1025 Kaiminani Drive, Kailua-Kona 96740, in Building A.
The Distance Learning Executive MBA program combines intensive residential study modules at UH-Manoa augmented with distance learning technology that transmits video and audio through the Internet in real time. The 22-month program is intended for professionals living on the neighbor islands and for military personnel on Oahu.
The program enables students to expand their business perspectives, sharpen their business skills, build professional networks and earn their MBA degrees — all without leaving home.
Information will also be shared about the MHRM program, which is a 16-month, 30 credit graduate program delivered through videoconferencing format.
