Seniors group plans lawn games

The Kailua-Kona Seniors meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Hale Halawai for lawn games. The date was omitted from a previous release. Members will participate in bocce, croquet and hillbilly golf. January birthdays will also be celebrated.

Line dance classes end Feb. 11

Weekly line dancing classes held Thursdays at Kona United Methodist Church will end Feb. 11. The eight-week session has been shortened to five weeks.

VFW schedule announced

The post opens at 8 a.m. Sunday for the Seahawk’s football game with breakfast pupu brought by the fans to share and drink specials.

There will be a work party at the Veterans Cemetery at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Chairs and tables will be unpacked and two sheds will be constructed.

Pizza with salad and desert will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 22 for $5.

Marine Corps League will meet at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 23.

Weekly dengue fever meetings planned

The Department of Health will hold weekly information sessions to provide updates and answer questions about the dengue fever outbreak.

Participants will learn about the prevalence, transmission and symptoms of dengue fever, outbreak response efforts, how to interpret case counts and maps and the best ways to fight the bite.

Meetings will be at 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday at Yano Hall in Captain Cook and at 11:30 a.m. every Thursday at West Hawaii Civic Center in the mayor’s conference room.

These sessions are open to the public and scheduled to continue through February.

Hospice of Kona plans Circle of Remembrance

Hospice of Kona invites the community to its annual Circle of Remembrance, an opportunity to remember and honor loved ones.

The event is from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 22 at Hulihee Palace. Attendees should bring a photo of their loved one.
