Quilters to gather Saturday

Aloha Quilters of Kona meets at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Living Stones Church at Pine Trees Plaza, 73-4040 Hulikoa Drive.

The quilters work in traditional and Hawaiian styles and meet on the third Saturday of each month to share ideas and techniques. New members, novice quilters or old hands are welcome.

Puako beach cleanup Saturday

Keep Puako Beautiful will host a beach cleanup Saturday at the Puako boat ramp.

Volunteers should sign in at 7:30 a.m. for orientation and to pick up supplies. Attendees should bring a water bottle, bucket and work gloves. Volunteers will clean up trails, the shoreline and reef by hiking, kayaking, diving, snorkeling and swimming.

Mayor’s Committee on People with Disabilities meets

The Mayor’s Committee on People with Disabilities meeting is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the ADRC Training Room, 1055 Kinoole St. in Hilo.

The meeting is open to the public. The agenda will be posted on the county’s website.
