The number of confirmed cases of dengue fever on the Big Island held steady at 210, health officials said Friday.
No additional cases of dengue fever were confirmed on the island Friday, health officials said. Of the confirmed cases, 190 are Hawaii Island residents and 20 are visitors. Forty have been children.
The state Department of Health said five of the confirmed cases remain potentially infectious to mosquitoes. The last onset of illness occurred Jan. 1.
Since the end of October, 838 suspect cases have been excluded based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria.
Meanwhile, Hookena and Milolii beach parks remain closed because of the outbreak.
