Hospital auxiliary holds luncheon, annual meeting
The Auxiliary of the Kona Community Hospital invites all members, guests and visitors its annual membership meeting and complimentary luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 at the hospital. Attendees may meet the new board of directors, hear a guest speaker and find out more about the organization’s special projects.

Results of the American Contract Bridge Club for the month of December have been announced.
Dec. 2: North/south first place went to Sally Bobb and Walt Bobb; second, Jean Cole and Robert Cole. East/west first place winners were JoAn Hill and Shirley Decker; second, Kathy Golitzen and Dee Overton.
Dec. 7: North/south first place winners were Sally Bobb and Walt Bobb; second, Jean Cole and Roma Johnson. Taking east/west first were Kathy Golitzen and Peter Mitchell. Jim Elstran and Butchie Hayward came in second.
Dec. 9: North/south first place winners were Jean Cole and Robert Cole; second, Sara Ito and Gail Mullen. Winning first east/west were Chuck Clark and Jim Elstran. Rexanne Ring and Dan Sabo came in second.
Dec. 13: North/south first place winners were Shelly Hershberger and Dean Jenkins. Gail Mullen and Lynn Puri took second. East/west first went to Kathy Golitzen and Peter Golitzen. Lou Ann Gibbs and Bruce Gibbs won second.

Dec. 17: Jim Elstran and Sue Kaneta, came in first. There was a three-way for tie for second place with JoAn Hill and Kathy Golitzen, Chuck Clark and Marilynn Bass, Dan Sabo and Marlene Sabo all sharing the honors.
Dec. 21: North/south first place winners were Marilyn Bass and Rexanne Ring. Taking second were Sue Kaneta and Dan Sabo. East/west first place winners were Chuck Clark and Dorothy Case; second, Edward Schickli and Nancy Anderson.
Dec. 23: North/south first place winners were Richard Gittelman and Shelly Hershberger. Ira Warren and Fran Warren came in second. East/west first place winners were Kathy Golitzen and Peter Golitzen. Shirley Decker and Carol Richards came in second.

Ohana Fuels supports sales to Boys and Girls Club
Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island has been selected as the upcoming beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels “Fuel Up. Do Good” program. From January through March, a portion of sales at all eight Big Island Ohana fuels locations will be donated to Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island.
“The Boys &Girls Club of the Big Island provides a critical service to kids in our community, and we are proud to have the BGCBI as our next ‘Fuel up. Do good.’ partner for the first quarter of 2016,” said Kimo Haynes, president of Hawaii Petroleum.

Cuaresma makes the dean’s list
Alexandria Cuaresma of Kailua-Kona has been named to the dean’s list for fall term 2015 at Eastern Oregon University. Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.
