Tutu’s House January schedule

Tutu’s House in Waimea has several January programs planned.

A chair tai chi – chi kung class will be from 1:30 to 2:30 pm every Monday except Jan. 18, with Cathleen Rickard, certified instructor. It teaches simple yet effective hand and leg movements, postures, gentle deep breathing and pressure point techniques. This class works well for seniors, physically challenged persons, and folks recovering from surgeries and living with injuries. Participants may attend in a wheelchair.

An ancient yoga class is planned from 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 6, 13, and 27 with Deanna Olivier. This practice includes physical, mental and spiritual discipline for developing awareness, character and consciousness. Attendees should bring water, a yoga mat and a towel and wear loose clothing.

Getting Comfortable with Facebook will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday with Kyle Combes, tech support guru. Attendees will learn about controlling privacy settings, prioritizing posts from important people, the ins and outs of posting, and other miscellaneous tips and tricks. Attendees should bring their computers.

“Why Use a Trust?” is offered from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9 with John G. Roth, Estate planning attorney with Hawaii Trust &Law Counsel. Attendees will learn how trusts can sometimes be used to accomplish a variety of possible goals, such as avoiding the probate process, protecting property from lawsuits, minimizing taxes, and reducing the chances of disputes.

A chair yoga class is planned from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. every Friday (except Jan. 15), with Michiko Sato. The class is for those who need a gentle and slow yoga in a chair practice.

A health benefits of foot reflexology class will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 9 with Chikako Hoshino-Powers. Attendees should prepared to go barefoot, come with clean feet and a pair of socks and bring one large and two hand towels.

Energy Healing and Our Thoughts is planned from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 9, with Mahryah-Linda Post, holistic health practitioner. Attendees will learn more about the universal law of attraction and how the movement of energy in different forms and densities influences physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies, experiences and health.

Ironman Foundation supports VASH

Ironman Foundation has awarded a $3,000 grant to VASH, The Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii. VASH provides support services to visitors, including Ironman athletes, who experience unfortunate circumstances such as medical emergencies, crime victimization, or the death of a loved while visiting Hawaii Island.
