The magnitude-3.2 temblor struck at 3:38 p.m. about 2.1 miles west-northwest of the area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. It had a registered depth of 28.8 miles.
The earthquake did not prompt a Pacific Tsunami Warning Center advisory.
