He mentors youth in Civil Air Patrol and in other settings. Twice, he has testified before the County Council on behalf of bills that support West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery and the annual Wreaths Across America Ceremony, effectively helping raise more than $8,000 and volunteers in many other facets.
Also receiving Hawaii Wing awards from Kona Composite Squadron were Cadet/1st Lt. Ragan Leslie for the Aerospace Education Cadet of the Year, Cadet/Chief Master Sgt. Lawrence Barrett for the Air Force Sergeants Assoc. Cadet NCO of the Year and 1st Lt. Antony Mitchell for the Public Affairs Officer of the Year.
