Big Island artist Christian Enns has a new pop-up gallery at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.

Big Island artist Christian Enns has a new pop-up gallery at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.

Located in the hotel’s main lobby, the gallery hosts a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday to offer fine art oil paintings and large-scale Hawaii scenes by Enns.

“I have been influenced by Mr. Sexton, a legendary painter and artist,” said Enns. “I am honored to have my paintings hung next to his work at this new gallery.”

The Puako resident’s paintings are influenced by “life here on the Big Island,” along with Enns’ experiences, thoughts, memories and feelings. All of these personal expressions were used to create the new painting “Life Force Energy.” The oil painting is a diptych with two panels totaling 36-by-96 inches on canvas.

The pop-up gallery is open 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and by appointment, through Jan. 31.

In addition, Enns will demonstrate his process on a 48-by-74-inch painting from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the gallery. He will also unveil three new paintings that will be part of the 2016 collection of ENNS originals on the evening of Jan. 7. In conjunction with the Waimea Ocean Film Festival, Enns will also be painting on Kaunaoa Beach fronting the hotel from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 1-4.
