Mokuaikaua Church will host a “Journey to Bethlehem, a Live Nativity Experience” from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Visitors will stroll back in time with a live, interactive passage from Nazareth to Bethlehem throughout the historic church site. Along the way, there will be Christmas carols, re-enactment storytelling, period exhibits, refreshments and opportunities for holiday photos.

Storytelling sessions will be held every 15 minutes; the last grouping will be at 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the community.

The church will hold its annual Candlelight Christmas Eve Service at 7 p.m. Thursday. Attendees of the free event, which is open to all, will enjoy Christmas carols performed by the Ohana Choir as they arrive. At 8 p.m., the service begins in the sanctuary and will include the lighting of the Advent Candle, the retelling of the prophecy of Isaiah about the coming of the Christ Child and the sharing of the Birth of Jesus.

Interpretive dance and hula, along with the singing of Christmas carols, will round out the evening event. The night will conclude with the unity candle-lighting for the entire congregation.

Mokuaikaua Church, founded in 1820, is the oldest Christian church in Hawaii and is located at 75-5713 Alii Drive.
