No tsunami threat to Hawaii following earthquake off Mexico

No tsunami was triggered by a strong earthquake recorded near the coast of Chiapas, Mexico, on Thursday.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the magnitude-6.6 temblor struck at 9:50 a.m. Hawaii time. Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami was not generated and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
