An earthquake was recorded early Tuesday south-southeast of of Kilauea Volcano’s summit.
The magnitude-3.1 temblor struck at 12:28 a.m. about 5.3 miles south-southeast of the summit area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. It had a registered depth of 5.4 miles.
The earthquake did not prompt a Pacific Tsunami Warning Center advisory.
