KAILUA-KONA — Got a teacher’s identification card and a yen to fly? Then UFO Parasail has an early Christmas present for you.
Beginning on the first of this month, the Kailua-Kona company began taking educators on free rides in the sky above Kailua Bay.
UFO Parasail general manager Briana Thomas said the company, with locations on the Big Island and Maui, is trying to show its appreciation for teachers educating the islands’ young. The rides, with choices of single, tandem or triple riders tethered to a parasail and towed behind the boat, normally have a full price of $75. The rides last eight minutes for singles and 10 minutes for tandems and triples.
Fliers have gone out to Big Island schools detailing the offer, Thomas said.
Teachers have been calling in to confirm the offer is legitimate, and have reserved spots on the parasail boat, often with companions and family members who get the ride for half off, Thomas said. The offer is good through Dec. 14.
UFO Parasail has operated at the Kailua Pier since 1992, with the company’s main branch at Kaanapali Beach on Maui.
