KHON-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1TopDnV ) officials say the decision to move the 24 nuns from Saint Francis School’s convent is partly because of financial struggles. The nuns, who are mostly in their late 70s to early 90s, are being offered rooms at a senior assisted living community in Pearl City.
The head of Saint Francis School, Sister Joan of Arc Souza, says the transition will be emotional and difficult for the nuns, who have called the convent home for so long.
The convent will be offered to Saint Francis School for lease to expand.
