“A Chinese Kitchen” shares 112 recipes via 212 pages filled with colorful photos and stories about growing up Chinese in Hawaii. It is the fourth in the series of ethnic cookbooks by Mutual Publishing and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
In addition to recipes, Lynette Lo Tom’s cookbook, “A Chinese Kitchen” includes many stories about the history of the Chinese in Hawaii and interesting tidbits about popular restaurants and dishes. Some popular recipes include lup cheong and mushroom mochi rice, Mongolian beef, tripe stew, turkey jook and more. It also features photography by Keauhou resident Sohrab Dorabji.
Lo Tom will be available to talk story or sign the book at Kona Stories in the Keauhou Shopping Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. During the event, she will also be giving out free samples.
