“An Evening at the Stork Club” comes to the Big Island at 7 p.m. Sunday at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.
The 1940s-themed fundraiser, presented by Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, features acclaimed New York City pianist and entertainer Phil Kadet, vocalists Justin John Moniz and Ashley Lambert and HPAF Artistic Director Val Underwood.
From 1929 to 1965, The Stork Club in New York City was one of the most prestigious nightclubs in the world. Kennedys and Roosevelts, The Duke and Duchess of Windsor and other celebrities made The Stork Club their favorite place to see and be seen.
“A touch of style and a lot of nostalgia are a great way to kick off the holidays,” said Genette Freeman, HPAF executive director. “This will definitely be an evening to remember.”
Prizes will be awarded for the best 1940s and 1950s costumes. Proceeds help support HPAF’s 2016 season and scholarship fund.
