A wind advisory has been posted for the Kohala Mountain area of the Big Island through 7 p.m. this evening.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu said strong trade winds and a relatively dry and stable atmosphere will continue to produce strong winds over Kohala Mountain. Northeast winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts reaching 50 mph are expected.
The service cautioned that these winds may down tree branches and make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Motorists are advised to use extra caution while driving.
